bloom where
you’re planted.
Our vision: a warm, magical, vibrant, green
and welcoming space for the Durham community.
Evergreen: a botanical lounge and event space rooted in Durham’s ever blooming creative energy. Part garden retreat, part gathering place, framed with greenery inside and out - the space comes to life with natural color, and changes with the Carolina seasons.
Our flavors and flowers draw from the African and Asian diasporas, honoring our founders’ roots while nodding to the wild history of gardens and greenhouses. Think slow, languid afternoons that turn into electric nights under the leaves and lights.
While open to the public most days, Evergreen flexes for anything from sunlit ceremonies to private dinners, intimate birthday celebrations to micro-weddings. Whatever the mood - laid-back or all-out - we’ve got the backdrop.
Drinks? Seasonal, refined, and made with local legends like Conniption and Liberty & Plenty. Expect grower champagnes, small-batch wines, and craft brews, plus cocktails punched up with herbs and edible blooms. Perhaps a Malaysian Mule with lemongrass and ginger, a Hibiscus Old Fashioned, or something you’ve never tried before. Zero-proof lovers get just as much love as floral teas, specialty coffees, and garden grown mocktails round out the offerings.
Bring your own take-out delights from neighboring favorites for picnics on the rooftop, bring in your caterer for a big night, or tap into our own day-to-day lineup: charcuterie, fruit plates, pastries, baked goods, ice creams - whatever’s popping up that week - plus hand-tied bundles of herbs and blooms, fresh from the garden.
Evergreen is for toasting, for plotting and planning, for laughing too loud, for staying awhile: for the quiet magic of time well spent.
Come grow with us.
who we are.
Jessica Breland is a business whiz, keeper of numbers, and our structural and organizing brain. In college (she played ball for UNC Chapel Hill), she was diagnosed with Stage 2 Hodgkin Lymphoma. She beat it before moving on to a decade-long, decorated pro-basketball career in the WNBA and overseas - spanning 10 countries. Before retiring, JB started up, operated, managed and then sold the first state-of-the-art Wellness Studio in Durham. A North Carolina native, she's now putting her MBA to good use working alongside Uma to create events, soundtracks (she’s our in-house DJ), experiences and partnerships across the Southeast.
Uma Ramiah is a multimedia storyteller, event planner, community organizer and (obsessive) gardener. After years of experience in the media, music, art and hospitality industries in Southeast Asia, West, Central and South Africa, Latin America, and across the United States, she made Durham her home. She now works with JB to help chefs, artists, festivals, restaurants, venues, businesses and more bring their events, brands and stories to life.
